Kardinge in the province of Groningen: a beautiful area right in my backyard. Golden hour was approaching. Sitting on the couch I thought, another episode of Game of Thrones or do I go out. Most of the time on moments such as those I decide to go out. That episode will still be waiting when I get back, right :).

Sunset colors

The sun was not yet completely gone and the colors just got more and more beautiful. On one of the pictures here you see a long array of shaped trees. It’s a work of art to honor the tradition of wood bending in region of the country. We used to bend a lot of trees for the making of boats and ships in the area.

Sometimes you might not feel or see the importance of works of art like these. But it this case it taught me something about the area and the history of the place. Don’t judge art too soon. Invest in it, take time and learn. In many cases there is more to see than at first glance.

I certainly made a lot of photos but sometimes you just want to put the camera away and just enjoy the moment.

The sky alone was worth a longer look. It was so calm and peacefull that evening. I continued my bikeride and was amazed by the moon that looked almost full and lit up a field of corn. Unfortunately I did not bring a tripod so I couldn’t capture that moment. But than again, a great moment is a great moment, also without capturing it in a photo! 🙂

The longer I drove my bike the more beautiful the sky became. After an hour of riding and taking photos I arrived at a mill. Loads of birds were filling up the sky and making beautiful sounds. I don’t know why the birds were surrounding the mill but never A great moment.
